Eh, stumbled across this site thanks to a link someone in a group I belong to provided. Thought I'd give it a shot, since DA can be kind of weird sometimes.
I stumbled across this site a few days ago as the result of a link to an image (that, sadly, is not available now) and thought, what the heck, I'll join here too.
I have since learned to just turn scoring off in my entries.
You know, I've browsed plenty of galleries. No, I don't always like the images I look at, but I would never rate someone as a bad artist. This is a learning field; the more you work at it the better you get.
Maybe I am a WEE bit sensitive about my work. I have the right to be though . . . I spent a lot of time on my fan art pieces! Those were the most complicated things I've done as of yet.
I realize that I'm probably a bit older than most of the artists in the fan art category . . . and yes, I have come to the realization also that people are just lacking in manners these days. So . . . the scoring is turned off forever for anything I submit. I don't need a 15 year old telling me they think my pieces are displeasing just because it isn't what they wanted to see/expected/whatever.
Manners. It all boils down to manners. Don't be so harsh on others in this field. We're all doing this because it's what we enjoy.
No. The Chaos digital painting was my first shot at actually using CS2 to paint a portrait instead of just making abstracts like I had been. I, um, had a bit to drink, was annoyed at another site, and commenced to work. I'm somewhat familiar with a lot of the features in CS2 . . . blur, dodge, burn, etc . . . so it wasn't TOO bad. Still took me a while though. Valentine turned out far better than the Chaos did . . . the blending is smoother on him. I'm still proud of both of them though.
